Group therapy for foundation’s babushkas

On Friday, January 24th, a series of psychological trainings started for “Babushka Adoption” charity foundation wards, which were held in the form of group therapy classes. The main direction of therapy is mintfulness, or consciousness. The training was conducted by Ravshan Yusufov, a master’s student of AUCA and a professional psychologist, with the assistance and ideological support of the senior curator, Lena Kosterina, coordinator of the Master’s Program in Psychology at the American University of Central Asia, a PhD degree holder. “We want to teach older people how to use the technique of awareness, or Mindfulness, in English. This technique teaches people to be conscious at the moment, to understand what is happening in the present, to calm down and understand themselves, because the focus of thoughts on the past or future doesn’t allow us to understand what is happening now,” says Ravshan Yusufov.

In total, a series of group therapy sessions on the practice of Mandfulness for babushkas will last for 8 weeks.
