On December 10, 2020 in Bishkek, in the conference hall of Madison Av Hotel, a round table on "Medical and social problems of elderly people during the pandemic of Covid-19" was held. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the public charity Foundation "Babushka Adoption" and the NGO "Active Longevity of Kyrgyzstanis. The event was organized by BA. There were 25 participants - representatives of state authorities, academic network, scientists, publicity representatives, members of the Foundation, the media, including the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Janyl Alybaeva, chief specialist of MLSD Mira Turganbaeva, chief gerontologist of Ministry of Healthcare of the KR prof. G.M. Baitova, Prof. N.N. Brimkulov Head of Department of Family Medicine Kyrgyz Medical Academy, representatives of ministries, academic network of KGMA, Kyrgyz Medical Institute of the requalification and re-training” and NGOs.
There were discussed a number of important issues on providing quality health care and social services e to elderly people in health care and development of gerontology and geriatrics. The participants focused on discussing and adopting a resolution following the project of the state social order of Ministry of labor and social development № 68 "Provision of financial, social and socio-medical assistance to senior citizens and seniors with disabilities in Bishkek and Chui region to reduce the burden of social protection services for single elderly citizens and improve their quality of life".
According to the resolution, the academic net calls for Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ministry of Labor and Social Development, Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Education, Committee on Physical Culture and Sports to take a number of immediate measures to support vulnerable older people during the pandemic through training, education, providing a mechanism to keep the prices of essential medicines and providing targeted drug assistance to single and elderly people with disabilities as well as through a number of other critical measures which were discussed and reflected in the resolution.
