What do we do?

OUR PROJECTS

Babushka Adoption Foundation supports the most vulnerable elderly in Kyrgyzstan, who receive low pensions and are lacking close relatives who could take care of them. See below how we help our elderly.

HOME CARE

Since 2001 we have social workers who visit elderly who are not mobile and need physical help around the house. The social workers help with errands like shopping for groceries and paying bills, and assist them with personal hygiene, cooking and cleaning.

SUPPORT OF
SELF-HELP GROUPS

SHGs give the elderly people a voice and a chance to socialize with others, boosting their morale and psychological condition. This also ultimately improves their overall health and they feel younger. SHGs around the country do many things such as souvenir making, lobbying and even sheep breeding.

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

To alleviate the impact of poverty sponsorship programme provides monthly payments to the most vulnerable elderly people in Bishkek city and rural areas of the southern Batken region. Babushka Adoption Foundation staff members help to translate letters, distribute presents from the sponsors and even help sponsors to visit their babushka or dedushka.

HUMANITARIAN AID

We regularly distribute humanitarian aid to beneficiaries as well as other elders in need. Items such as clothing, bedding, food and even medical equipment is received from Kyrgyz-based associations and volunteers.

LEISURE

Our foundation strives to provide seniors with a variety of activities for health maintenance, cultural enrichment, personal growth, and social integration.

ADVOCACY
